Comparisons continue to be made between speed dating and online dating. There are pros and cons to both and people are reconciling to the facts pretty well and choosing what they feel is convenient for them as a person.
Let us look at some of the beliefs and thoughts that people have with regard to speed dating and online dating:
a) Speed dating is not considered as safe as online dating.
b) Speed dating is a spontaneous activity best suited to those who wear their heart on their sleeve and are loathe to a lot of planning. It is supposed to suit people who are more adventurous and keen on fast action. Online dating on the other hand is more beneficial for those who would like to understand a person through regular chat, messages etc before going on a date.
c) Relationships born out of speed dating is transient and not long lasting as very often people tend to put up an appearance for the moment and once the partner gets to know the real personality, there are greater chances of a split. It focuses more on the external appearance and is ideal for one night stands or casual affairs.
d) Online dating is more structured and allows some preliminary screening to determine compatibility and therefore provides the individuals a better chance to build lasting relationships.
Irrespective of the above thoughts and impressions, ultimately it is what you as an individual feel at a particular point in time that will decide what kind of dating you wish to get into. Having preconceived notions or ideas about both forms of dating may not be the right way to approach dating.
